EMUNAH CREATIVE ARTS
Using Art as a Gateway to Learning About Small Business While Exploring Individual Artistic Talents
All the enrichment programs presented at the Emunah Children's Centre contain some sort of therapeutic aspect. Each week 180 children at the Centre participate in an art class, which is, in essence, group therapy sessions provided by an experienced and fully trained art therapist, Ayelet Fabel. During the sessions the children are encouraged to express themselves freely and create with the aim of strengthening their self-esteem.
In addition, the Emunah Children's Centre operates the EMUNAH CREATIVE ARTS youth business initiative programme in which 18 of the senior students design, create, produce, and market art and Judaic items that are inturn sold in Israel and overseas. In addition to empowering the children, this unique programme, the only one of its kind in a children’s home in Israel, simulates a work environment, thereby helping the seniors to prepare for adult life. Those wishing to join the programme are required to submit their resume, undergo a personal interview, and to participate in training seminars and workshops. The young artists receive a monthly salary based on their performance and are then supported as they exercise basic and vital adult skills, such as how to budget their income and to prioritize their spending.
